Lindsey Francis from RC Matilda Bay has organised for Jim Mellor who facilitates the Shower Bus to speak to us. Brollie Brigade shower truck The original shower truck supplied by an Eastern states company was suddenly taken away for service elsewhere. Anotheer company stepped in as a temporary solution with a shower trailer which could only supply one shower at a time . A suitable truck could not be found in WA, one was sourced in Queensland. Redstone Transport Pty Ltd guided the truck through 4 states. It had to go over inspection pit for registration and insurance before the refit planning could be started. Thanks to a lot of companies coming on board to help rebuild and fit out the truck with financial backing from companies and Rotary clubs, it was completed. It now boasts two showers, with a hairdressers area at the back, to make it independent of water and power it has solar panels, clean water and grey water tanks. This means it can go anywhere to help people needing a shower. |

Around 2,000* children drown every year in Vietnam. This is more than 5 children every day. Swim Vietnam trains swim teachers, builds pools, and provides free survival swimming and water safety lessons, giving Vietnamese children a skill that could save their life. From March to September each year around 3,000 children in Central Vietnam will take part in the Swim Vietnam survival swimming program in local pools. Over five weeks, they’ll learn how to swim, float and tread water. They’ll also gain essential water safety knowledge and practice safe rescue techniques. Swim and survive programs work. In similar programs in Bangladesh, rates of drowning have shown to be as much as 90% lower in children that have completed these programs than in the general population.. We’ve helped thousands, but there’s still work to do, including advising the government on a national water safety plan. With your support we can teach even more children to swim and survive.
