All you need to know about the Rotary Foundation
Jul 29, 2025 7:00 am - 8:30 am

PDG and DGN Jodie Sparks, former Foundation Chair, will talk to us about the Rotary Foundation. Anyone who has attended training with Jodie, knows she is an engaging speaker who knows her stuff.

Jodie is a proud member, and current President, of the Rotary Club of Ascot (the home of Bricktober). Jodie was introduced to the Rotary family as a Handicamp buddy in 1994. She then went on to join Rotaract before joining Rotary in 2000 and served as President of Ascot in 2005-6.

After serving as District Governor for D9465 in 2011-12, Jodie has enjoyed many years running training at District, Zone, Regional and International level and served as the District 9423 Council on Legislation Representative in 2025.

Jodie is the Foundation Manager for the Western Australian Motor Industry Foundation, overseeing the small WA Chairity that provides life-changing transport for WA families with disability through its Wheels for Hope program.

In any spare time, Jodie loves to spend time at her house in Balingup, drinking Gin and Coffee (lots of coffee) and spoiling her fur baby Hamlin.

Public presentation - Voluntary Assisted Dying
Sep 17, 2025 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm
  • As of 1 July 2021, voluntary assisted dying (VAD) is a choice available to eligible people under the Voluntary Assisted Dying Act 2019.
  • VAD involves a process to access medication and to enable a person to legally choose the manner and timing of their death.
  • Put simply, voluntary assisted dying means that some adults can now ask for medical help to end their life if they have a disease or illness that is so severe it is going to cause their death and their suffering cannot be relieved in a manner tolerable to them.
  • The term ‘voluntary assisted dying’ emphasises the voluntary nature of the choice of the person and their enduring capacity to make this decision.

Ride the Train - Next Stop Polio Eradication - Opt
Oct 24, 2025 8:00 am - 6:00 pm

World Polio Day is 24 October. Rotary remains committed to the program “End Polio Now”, which aims to eradicate the disease poliomyelitis through the vaccination of children throughout the world. Today there are 98 cases in Afghanistan and Pakistan. In order to achieve this, funds need to be raised.

Our Goal is to raise awareness of Polio in our communities on 24 October, and to raise $50,000 for ‘End Polio Now’ from Club sponsorships, NOT from the public.

The plan is for Rotarians from District 9423 to ride the trains throughout the WA Railway Network on Friday 24 October wearing a red Polio T-shirt promoting 'End Polio Now' and creating awareness in the public domain.

Although the event is free, you need to register so you are covered by insurance.

You can ride the trains anytime between 8am and 6.00pm, wearing your Polio T-Shirt - you can order your t-shirt if you register before 1 September.

Book here  and register for the event on the RCWE website so we know you are attending.
