Due to low numbers registered for last week's meeting, I gave our speaker the opportunity of attending at a later date. I didn't want her speaking to 6 people which is where our registrations were on Sunday. In future, please make sure you register your attendance by Sunday night. Maybe put a reminder in your phone to help you remember.
Those of us who attended last week's meeting enjoyed a good chit chat and solved a few of the world's problems. We discussed a date for our next Foodbank Collection at Floreat Forum and Harry has been able to confirm 18th April. The event and roster slots have been added to the calendar. Please select your time slot here as we need as many members as possible to attend.

Darren Meakins from the Scarborough club will join us at our meeting on Tuesday to talk about the changes his club has made to make it more attractive to new members while retaining the core values of existing members and the club.
If you haven't already, read the article Designing for Tomorrow included in this bulletin and check RC Scarborough's website.
A reminder that Geoff is on roster for the bulletin article and photos, and John is student host.

More of Jin's Adventures
Jin and Ainara on the ferry. Click the photo above to see more photos
Jane and I took Jin and her friend Ainara (RYE from Spain, hosted by Mandurah) to Rottnest for 5 days camping last week. I think the girls had a good time. Jane and I certainly did.
Erecting the tent when we arrived on Tuesday afternoon as a bit of a challenge as it was quite windy and it's a reasonably large tent. It wasn't the neatest job but at least we got it up and it protected us from the weather.
There was a lot of swimming and snorkelling, paddle boarding, eating and bike riding. The girls saw a snake while they were out and about, seals, and of course, quokkas.
Jin is keen to go travelling with us again.

AN UPDATE ABOUT KIKI, RCWE
EXCHANGE STUDENT 2011-12
I received this email from Jill Hanna on Saturday.....
Way back in 2011-12, your club and mine (Matilda Bay) shared an inbound exchange student. Kiki, from Japan. I was her mentor when she came to Matilda Bay for the second half of her exchange and I have kept in touch with her ever since (mostly via Facebook).
Kiki recently came for a visit, and I caught up with her for dinner and also took her up to see her school, St Stephens. It was a bit of a spur of the moment trip, and she was only here for a few days.
She was only 16 when she arrived here and 17 when she left, but she will now be 30 in April. I found her to be a lovely girl when she was with us, but of course a bit ‘scatty’ like many teenagers. She is now a lovely young, professional woman who works in Public Relations for the Italian fashion company, Armani in Tokyo. She was able to get straight into a good uni on her return to Japan (although she expected to go back to high school) and did very well in her business degree. Her English is excellent as she continued to study it on her return.
Kiki said that she will try to come again and stay longer next time so she’d have time to see other people. It was good to hear that she was in Rotaract for quite a while and held office until her work got too demanding. She said she’d like to join Rotary one day but its hard to get into in Japan as a young person. It seems you need to be a CEO or similar to get in!
I thought your club might like to know how one of your past students is going. I’ve attached a couple of photos of our dinner out.
Regards
Jill Hanna

THERE'S STILL TIME TO REGISTER
Have you booked for the District Conference in Northam yet - 13-15th March. Join Jane, Donna and me for an interesting weekend.
Check the program below to a list of guest speakers and activities (may be subject to some minor changes).
After the discussion at the club's AGM, have a read of another article from the September/October edition of Rotary Down Under. The RC of Scarborough has turned vision into action achieving outstanding membership growth. I'm hoping to have Darren come and talk to members before our club forum early next year.
