FOODBANK COLLECTION AT FLOREAT FORUM

The shoppers at Floreat Forum listened to us and they certainly paid it forward on Saturday. Thanks to their generosity, we collected around 80 boxes of food — roughly one tonne — for Foodbank. An outstanding effort from the local community.

A big thank‑you to everyone who volunteered on the day. Not all helpers appear in the photos, but your contribution was invaluable. Special thanks to Keith from the Men’s Shed for capturing the moments and lending a hand, and to David for managing the trailer (which hopefully survived its second fully‑loaded trip home).

We don’t do what we do for the recognition, but it was heartening to receive so many kind words from shoppers who appreciate Rotary’s contribution to the community.

Well done, team.

IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO BOOK

Our military historian and friend of the club, Dr Mark Fielding, will be speaking to us on 21st April.

We are meeting in the Glasshouse (downstairs room) at Kailis which only accommodates 26 people. You may have friends you'd like to invite so be quick so you don't miss out.

Mark will speak to us about Private Arthur Blackburn: Forgotten Anzac Legend.

From the morning of 25 April 1915 to a VC at Poziers in 1916 to leading a battalion in the Second World War, this presentation will briefly outline the extraordinary life and military service of Arthur Blackburn, a forgotten Anzac hero.

Rotary friends, please let us know if you'd like to join us for breakfast and this interesting presentation. We always learn something of value when Mark speaks to us.

LITTLE CREATURES TOUR

A select group visited Little Creatures in lieu of last week's meeting. Apart from being unable to buy a drink before the start of the tour unless we walked into another venue about 50 metres away, we enjoyed an interesting tour. Not quite a Laurie Dender tour and our guide had a bit of competition from workers who were still working on the renovations to the venue.

It was a perfect afternoon to be in Fremantle.

JIN'S UPDATES
SYDNEY

Jin and Sarah had a very enjoyable trip to Sydney. I think the highlight may have been the Sydney Harbour Bridge climb which they did at sunset.

Enjoy their bridge climb photos by clicking the link above.

NORTH WEST SAFARI

Jin dragged herself out of bed on Saturday morning so we could get to the meeting point for the North West Safari on Saturday morning by 6:45.

We arrived early however it wasn't long before the other very excited students arrived. Their first night is a station stay about 500ks from Perth where they will have their first chance to learn how to put their tents us.

I received a message from Jin this morning when I asked how her first day was and her response was: "It was awful, the flies are so annoying" She does have a fly net and insect repellent so hopefully things will get better.
